Feast VS Fit (Thanksgivng Themed Games)
Here are some November/Thanksgiving-themed games that kids (and adults) will enjoy on or off the Railyard Fitness Course:
1. Turkey Chase Tag
  • How to Play: Pick one player to be the "Pilgrim" aka Tagger. The Pilgrim or the Tagger’s goal is to tag as many Turkeys/players as possible. When the Tagger touches another player, that player is either out for the round, becomes a Tagger as well (in the case of multiple Taggers), or must do a quick challenge to rejoin the game (like 5 jumping jacks). The game ends when everyone has been tagged, or after a set amount of time. You can then pick a new Tagger and start a new round.
  • Exercise Benefit: It would best be used for Cardio and strategy.
2. Pumpkin Bowling (Use the Railyard Rails as the Bowling Alley)
  • How to Play: Use small pumpkins as "bowling balls" and set up water bottles or cans as pins. Each player gets a turn to roll their pumpkin and try to knock down as many pins as possible.
  • Twist: Add silly challenges for each round, like rolling the pumpkin between the legs, with one hand, or even backward!
  • Exercise Benefit: This game strengthens coordination and adds some fun twists to traditional bowling.
3. Stuff the Turkey Relay on a Railyard Course
  • How to Play: Divide players into two teams. Each team has a pile of "stuffing" items (like rolled-up socks, small toys, or bean bags) and a "turkey" (a box or basket at the other end of the playing area). The goal is to race, one player at a time, to stuff the turkey with one item until all items are inside.
  • Twist: Make players do a funny walk or crawl as they carry each item, like waddling like a turkey, bear crawl, or crab walk.
  • Exercise Benefit: This relay game promotes global movement, agility, and balance.
4. Turkey Dance-Off (Showcase the Best Dance on a Railyard Platform)
  • How to Play: Play some upbeat music and challenge everyone to a "turkey dance-off." Kids and adults can show off their funniest turkey-inspired moves, like flapping wings, bobbing heads, or shaking tail feathers.
  • Twist: Introduce random "freezes" where everyone must stop dancing immediately when the music stops. Anyone who moves is "out" for that round.
  • Exercise Benefit: Dancing is a great cardio workout, and the freeze adds a balance challenge for some extra fun.
5. Real Life Angry Birds/Turkeys
  • How to Play: Players throw balls or plush turkeys at a stacked cans or targets on a Railyard Course set up as Multi-tier shelf. The player can try to knock down all or just some of the targets to win.
  • Twist: Make it a race or you can add obstacles like cones to make it more challenging. Have objects you don't want to hit that would cost players negative points.
  • Exercise Benefit: This is a fun way to build hand-eye coordination, and agility.
These games are easy to set up, get kids moving, and add plenty of laughs in November!
